Abstract

Aspern-Die-Seestadt-Wiens, located in Vienna, Austria, is an urban development project that exemplifies the concepts of smart and sustainable cities. This initiative aims to transform an underutilized area into a vibrant neighborhood, with the capacity to house 20,000 residents and create 20,000 jobs, using a mixed-use model and the 15-minute city concept.This article examines how the Aspern-Die-Seestadt-Wiens project contributes to sustainability and urban efficiency by evaluating the application of innovative technologies and urban planning strategies. It is important to understand how these technologies and innovative planning can reduce carbon footprint, promote social inclusion, and stimulate economic development.The critical analysis focuses on resource management, including energy, water, and waste, and assesses the effectiveness of sustainable mobility solutions and public spaces. The project demonstrates significant advances in urban efficiency and quality of life, showcasing a well-planned and integrated infrastructure. Aspern-Die-Seestadt-Wiens serves as an inspiring model for other global cities, illustrating how innovations in urban planning can lead to a smarter and more sustainable future.
