Abstract

Shade devices are one of the oldest design strategies for thermal comfort in architecture. With the support of CAD tools (Computer-Aided Design), the study and creation of these elements became more accessible and accurate. Therefore, a study on the use of generative design tools to create shading devices for architecture will be presented. These tools were combined with others for design, computer simulation of thermal comfort and energy consumption, in order to assist in the definition of parameters for creating elements in a generative and responsive manner, considering the climate of the city of Foz do Iguaçu-PR. The programs were used Ladybug Tools; Honeybee; Energy Plus, OpenStudio, Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, where the script is programmed and the optimization of multiple objectives. The preliminary results indicated that with the combined use of CAD tools, computational simulation tools for thermal comfort, energy consumption and optimization algorithms, it was possible to determine solutions that improve thermal comfort conditions and energy efficiency, through the use of shading devices created from generative design.
