Abstract

This article aims to present the development of a tool that relates spatial configurations to areas destined to urban agriculture allowing for a more informed decision-making process in urban design. For the elaboration of this support system, a resource-based visual programming language was used, where indicators of urban density, consumption and vegetable production make up the inputs and outputs. As an alternative to digital design, the introduction of algorithmic thinking in the design process and the use of computational resources, for the management of several factors and their interactions, has complemented the current processes of thinking about the city. In this manner, allowing the generation of different solutions of project in response to specific situations. To validate the developed system, an analysis of a residential area, located in the Altiplano Cabo Branco neighborhood, in the city of João Pessoa - Paraíba, was proposed. After the simulation, it was possible to observe the usability and effectiveness of the tool for proposing urban spaces and for achieving results that can be used to provide planners with guidelines that encourage the development of public policies and legislative instruments aimed at urban agriculture.
