Abstract

This article presents the results of postdoctoral and junior researches which are currently in progress. Facing a scenario in which demands on architectural projects in social, legislative and technological terms have increased, complexifying the creative process, researching support tools that qualify the design process is an essential task for the current demands. Considering this, the objective of this article is to present the development of a new tool that collaborates with this process in the form of a board game, to support the school design. The methodology considers a qualitative approach, supported by theoretical research related to the themes of cognition; of project processes; and on the use of games and dynamics in creative processes. It is demonstrated, therefore, how the cognitive process was facilitated by the use of this tool, how it fomented productive discussions and facilitated the decision making. The results brought the first sketches of an architectural project that incorporated essential design concepts. Using this tool also demonstrated could increase the design school quality because it can focus the discussion in the essential concepts to a high performance school building.
