A TECNOLOGIA PARA ACESSIBILIDADE ARQUITETÔNICA E URBANÍSTICA

Abstract

According to IBGE (2010), Brazil has 23.9% of the population with some type of disability, demonstrating an increase in the demand for accessibility. This article aims to show that Assistive Technology, Information Technology and Communication in Smart Cities can provide the social inclusion of disabled and elderly people in cities and buildings, as the traditional way of adequacy has proved insufficient. The research method is through documentary review of the use of technology to address the lack of architectural and urban accessibility for people with disabilities and the elderly. The result demonstrates that technology is the solution for social inclusion.
