Architectural quality in social housing: a case study on privacy

The article aims to analyze privacy in housing units of social interest, located in the Metropolitan Region of João Pessoa, Paraíba. Adopts the method of Definition and Evaluation of Housing Architectural Quality. It is a method of graphical design analysis, which adopts a multicriterial assessment of the housing quality requirements at different levels. The results show that, considering the parameters adopted, of the six housing units analysed one showed a good performance, standing out over the others and two achieved unsatisfactory performance. In general, it was noted that the spaces of transition (circulation) between the intimate, social and service areas, as well as the spatial arrangement (sectorization) play a decisive role in the level of privacy of the units, coupled with other design strategies, which aim to reduce the impacts caused by the lack of privacy in the housing unit. Finally, the article highlights the relative importance of privacy in Housing of Social Interest, considering the socio-cultural context in which the units are inserted, as well as the relevance and the limits of the graphical design analysis method used.
