ABSTRACT: The Building Information Model (BIM) is a set of processes, technologies and work techniques that encompass all stages of the project, from the design to building maintenance. The use of this tool has been gradually implemented in the building system (BS) project and execution companies, which requires future professionals to be trained for the project development with BIM. Assuming that BIM can improve the understanding and can help in the formation of professionals for this new demand, this research aims to evaluate the implementation of BIM in a discipline that contemplates BS project in a Civil Engineering course. For this, an action research was done in two semesters of this discipline, where BIM was applied in the introductory level, with the use of Autodesk® Revit for the development of BS projects. The application was evaluated by a collective interview and application of individual questionnaires at the end of the semester. The BIM insertion initiative was approved by the students; however, the supplementary material and extra class tutoring were not enough to compensate the lack of familiarity with the program used for modeling.
