AVALIAÇÃO DE INTELIGIBILIDADE EM SALA DE AULA DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL PARA IDENTIFICAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES ACÚSTICAS DE ESCOLAS PÚBLICAS EM SANTA MARIA – RS

This article reports a study, using articulation tests, to evaluate the word intelligibility in classrooms in order to evaluate the acoustic conditions in classrooms of public schools located in the city of Santa Maria. The theme involves the acoustic quality of classrooms and the development of new methodologies in acoustic tests for the adequate adjustment of teaching environments. It is proposed the evaluation of intelligibility from the measurement of impulse binaural responses in the rooms. The adopted sound signal is the sweep sine. For the emission of the sound signal an omnidirectional source is used and as receiver an artificial head is responsible for the recording of binaural signals. From the signals obtained in the measurements, the acoustic parameters of the classrooms are calculated and a procedure of signal processing for the generation of auralizations is carried out. These auralizations are then tested on children by means of headphones. According to the results, most rooms have a reverberation time close to that suitable for speech, but it presents insufficient insulation for the due to walls, doors and windows, allowing the interference of the background noise.
