IDENTIFICAÇÃO DO EFEITO DAS VARIÁVEIS INDIVIDUAIS

Abstract

The theme of the thermal sensation of the elderly, analyzed in residential environments, has been little explored in Brazil. The studies developed have as object the thermal comfort of young people in school buildings or in climatized chambers with control of microclimatic variables. With the aging of the human body some physiological changes occur, which compromise the action of thermoregulation mechanisms, negatively influencing the individual's thermal sensation. In addition to age, factors such as gender and body mass index (BMI) may also have an effect on the individuals' thermal sensation. For this reason, the objective of this paper is to investigate the association between the individual variables (sex, age and BMI) and the subjective variable of thermal sensation, based on data collected from people elderly living in the city of Campina Grande / PB. From the analysis of the results it is possible to affirm that there is an association between the individual age and BMI variables with the subjective variable of thermal sensation. However, the same was not confirmed with the gender variable.
