In recent times, much has been discussed about the use of energy efficiency methods in buildings. It is a perspective of maximizing the energy performance of buildings. The processes of economic growth, population, urbanization and modernization of cities located in hot regions boost the demand for artificial climatization and imply in the greater demand of energy. The objective of this study is to investigate the interference of the envelope elements, alternating the external vertical sealing systems (ceramic block, concrete block, autoclaved cellular concrete block and solid concrete wall), and colors of the facades (relative to the solar absortance of light, medium and dark colors), in the energy consumption restricted to the cooling by air conditioners, with daytime and nighttime performance, of a building located in Recife-PE. Thus, a computational reference model was performed using the EnergyPlus 8.1.0 software. The results obtained in the simulations in which the air conditioning worked in the night period showed no significant variations in the percentage of energy reduction for the external vertical sealing systems examined, while the daytime activity of the artificial climatization indicated higher percentages of energy efficiency by type of system adopted. By the observation of the simulations carried out, the systems constituted by autoclaved cellular concrete blocks presented better thermoenergetic performance, however, the systems integrated by concrete block and solid concrete wall predisposed to lower energy efficiency.
