Abstract

Energy certifications have the purpose of improving the energy consumption of the buildings, whether residential, service, or public. When it comes to educational spaces, it is perceived that the design of these buildings meetings certain challenges, such as, to present an adequate thermal performance. Thus, it is evident the importance of an project aiming at energy efficiency strategies, because besides the construction system, solar position, users are fundamental agents for the conservation and rational use of energy. Based on these concepts, this paper aims to analyze the energy efficiency of the Municipal School Dom José Gomes, in the city of Passo Fundo - RS. The method used for certification was developed in accordance with the Technical Regulation on the Quality of Energy Efficiency Level of Commercial Buildings, Services and Public Buildings (RTQ-C), which was elaborated by Procel (National Program for the Conservation of Electric Energy) in partnerships with sector and higher education institutions. After the detailed analysis of the enclosure, lighting and air conditioning systems, it was verified that the level of efficiency energy of the building results as “D”. This level was obtained as a function of the thermal transmittance values of the walls and ceiling being higher than the limits defined by the RTQ – C, as well as the lighting system does not meet the prerequisites, so some improvements were suggested in order to achieve better building certification.
