A INFLUÊNCIA DA VEGETAÇÃO NO CONFORTO DOS USUÁRIOS EM PRAÇA PÚBLICA DE VITÓRIA-ES
Keywords:
urban heat island, thermal confort, vegetationAbstract
In cities with a tropical humid climate, like Vitória (Espírito Santo’s capital), vegetation shade are essential to reduce urban heat islands and to create spaces for people interacting. The shading influences the permanence of people in these spaces. In this sense, the objective is to verify the mitigating impact of different types of vegetation disposition in Jacob Suaid Square, located in Mata da Praia (Vitória – ES). The measurement campaign was conducted during the summer of 2021 at four different times of the day (8:30 A.M., 12:00 P.M., 4:30 P.M., and 7:00 P.M.) in three different places with diverse shade conditions. The results show that the vegetation density has a direct effect on the collected data. It is possible to conclude that, bigger vegetation density mitigates the heat island effect, providing more comfort than places directly exposed to sun radiation. Moreover, the mean radiant temperature strongly correlates with the user’s thermal comfort.
