EFEITOS DA ORIENTAÇÃO DE ABERTURAS EM AMBIENTES NA SATISFAÇÃO E PERCEPÇÃO DA ILUMINAÇÃO EM HUMANOS

Human species evolved in natural environment and, therefore, most of its physiology, problem-solving and emotional abilities are strongly connected to environmental variation, including light. In this context, this research aims to establish the relationship between daylight availability, sky conditions and human visual perception through façade orientation throughout two weeks of august 2018. For this purpose, a rotating controlled environment (Câmara Climática de Baixo Custo – CBBC) was used to test the effect of façade orientation on subjective variables of 136 volunteers under experimental conditions. The participants (n=136) responded a survey questionnaire as part of a more comprehensive post-occupancy evaluation (POE). Simultaneously, horizontal illuminance was measured by actimeters mounted with lux meters. Subjective and objective data were then analyzed, and results suggest more than 80% of the occupants were satisfied with ambient light under clear and overcast sky. In the south facing space, however, ambient satisfaction and brightness perception were lower and sensitivity to light and contrast variations was higher under light levels lower than 350 lux.
