Understanding the lighting energy use performance of a space is an important means of being effective in propose lighting performance improvement. This study develops a framework to analyse the electric lighting performance of a set of classrooms in the UnaLiberdade Building. The methodology consists of the following steps: data collection, current electric lighting system analysis according to NBR ISO/CIE 8995-1 illuminance and uniformity criteria, electric lighting system adjustment proposition and lighting system energy performance evaluation. The study results showed that no room met the NBR ISO/CIE 8995-1 illuminance and uniformity minimum quality criteria. The results also show that there is a room for improvement, especially regarding lamps standardization and luminaires redistribution. In order to maximize lighting system performance, the study suggests that it would be necessary to develop an integration between daylighting and electric lighting solutions.
