Abstract

As one of the stages of a MSc project (NOVAES, 2020), this work presents the calibration process of an ENVImet climate model for the evaluation of open urban spaces in São Paulo during hot days, carried out through successive simulations configured with microclimatic data from empirical measurements carried out at the location represented in the simulations, from IAG USP meteorological stations and from the climate file at Congonhas Airport, comparing the results of the main microclimate variables (air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and radiation) between simulation and measurements over a 24-hour period. Through the input of the aforementioned data, it was possible to configure a calibrated climatic model for the simulation of microclimate thermal conditions in the city of São Paulo for a hot and dry day, marked by high air temperatures, low cloudiness, high solar incidence and low rates of relative humidity. The calibrated climate model created showed good adherence of results to the empirical measurements performed, within the expected tolerance limits, and can be used for studies involving the simulation of the thermal performance of open urban spaces in the city of São Paulo submitted to these conditions. In the calibration process, it was possible to highlight the advantages of using ENVI-met for thermal simulations of open urban spaces, its adequacy and adaptability for the simulation of models in Brazil, especially in São Paulo, and also the main difficulties of the simulation process with ENVI-met, mainly due to the limitations of its tools and the great needs of computing capacity and time for the calculations of the simulations.
