Abstract

The ABNT NBR 15575: 2013 methodology for rating thermal performance has been criticized over the years. That is what a new text has been proposed, evaluated and approved in public consultation in January 2021 and has already been published. Therefore, the study in question seeks to understand the two methodologies (2013 and 2021) in a comparative way in order to understand their differences, if there was evolution and and analyze its restriction in relation to the civil construction market and the performance of housing units. It was found that the new methodology is less permissive in relation to the Intermediate and Superior levels of thermal performance, but, on the other hand, it presents a certain facility in obtaining the Minimum performance. In addition, it presents a better performance level for climates where there is less need for artificial conditioning. The level of complexity of the new methodology is higher, this being a possible indication of the increase in the value and time of the services provided to prove performance.
