Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the interactions of users in the use of air conditioning systems, lighting, natural ventilation, internal shading devices of a teaching building at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel). Behavior patterns (active, intermediate and passive) were created. The active user seeks the use of natural light, uses passive solar shading and the integration of natural and artificial ventilation. The intermediate user does not seek the integration of natural and artificial lighting, he uses hybrid ventilation as a ventilation strategy. The passive user does not use any passive strategy, predominantly uses artificial conditioning and adjusts the cooling and heating setpoint to values outside the norms. Computer simulations were performed in the EnergyPlus program, in order to measure the influence of behavior patterns on the building's energy consumption. The results indicate that the users of the building are located between the intermediate and the passive user, with a tendency to the intermediate user profile.
