Abstract

The objective of the study is to analyze this phenomenon to the concept of walkability, which consists of classifying the city in terms of accessibility and the quality of people’s walking in the city. For this, a study site at the University of Brasilia (UnB) was selected, where a walk was made between the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU-UnB), Central Library, Rectoryand the University Restaurant. For the evaluation of temperature, air humidity, altitude and atmospheric pressure, a bioclimatic backpack was used, developed among the participating students and research professors of the project. Thus, data were collected between the warmest and humidest hours or between the coldest and driest hours to relate to the walkability of pedestrians in that location. Bearing in mind thequality, temperature and air pressure as factors influencing the thermal sensation, in addition to also relating studies of urban geometry, ventilation, vegetation and the materials of surfaces in the same environment, to see it the human suitability to them. These measurements were accompanied by microclimate simulations carried out with the ENVi-met 4.4.4 program to analyze and compare with the results of the backpack. As a conclusion, despite an extremely bucolic space, walkability is still hampered by the effects of phenomena such as heat islands, since the results found in the simulations are high temperatures and low humidity duringthe busiest hours on the University campus.
