EDIFICAÇÕES COM DIFERENTES RECUOS FRONTAIS, USOS E NÍVEIS DE PERMEABILIDADES NOS TÉRREOS: PERCEPÇÃO DE SEGURANÇA DO ESPAÇO ABERTO PÚBLICO

This paper investigates the influence of buildings with different frontal setback, uses and permeability levels on the ground floor, in the perception of security of the public open space. To meet the objective, seven blocks were selected in Cidade Baixa neighborhood, Porto Alegre/RS, according to the following criteria: buildings located predominantly in the front alignment of the lot and with frontal setback (maximum 6m) and ground floors with predominantly residential uses and non-residential. Data were collected through questionnaires applied to residents of the seven blocks, which were analyzed using frequencies and statistical tests, such as cross-tabulation (Phi), Kendall W and Pearson. The results reveal a greater perception of security on the part of the residents of the blocks with ground floors with predominant residential use, and with frontal setbacks. On the other hand, blocks with ground floor with predominant non-residential use and along the sidewalk were perceived as unsafe by their residents, regardless of the permeability levels.
