UM NOVO OLHAR SOBRE AS UNIDADES DE TRIAGEM DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS E A CIDADE

Abstract

The article brings a brief review of the literature in relation to urban solid waste, solid waste management in the city of São Leopoldo and the Solidarity Economy Enterprise and, thus, highlights the importance of the sorting units for society as a whole, as well as the prejudice surrounding this equipment and the collectors. In this sense, it proposes, through the academic project developed for Cooperativa Univale, a new look at the sorting units and their insertion in the city. Thus, it intends to provide subsidies for projects for solid waste sorting units, suggesting the possibility of the strategy of including other equipment for collective use in the community, which promote access to educational activities related to conscious consumption and the correct destination of waste through environmental centers, multipurpose spaces, squares and green areas that stimulate culture, leisure, social life and the local economy, considering all its possible benefits pointed out by the literature. In this way, this exploratory study proposes to improve the relationship between the sorting units and their collectors with the residents of the neighborhoods where they operate, as well as the improvement of the collectors' working conditions and, therefore, contributing to the production of sustainable, healthy and inclusive cities.
