Abstract

Appropriate maintenance of building façades ensures that its components remain functional during the expected useful life and helps to preserve the internal space. Conventional means of monitoring the condition of these buildings are mostly visual inspections person-guided, which is a lengthy, inaccurate process that may cause risks to inspectors. Thus, this research aims to identify the conservation status of facades with images obtained by drones and to propose an algorithm for data analysis. Field surveys were carried out using two RPAS to obtain images. These were processed in the Bentley ContextCapture software and afterwards, an algorithm was developed to identify the state of conservation of façades by color of the pixels of the images. As a result, the conservation status of a sample of the façade of the building under study was obtained, with automatic identification of spots by the color of the pixels. It was found that differences regarding the luminosity of the images can impact the result. Building inspections of the state of conservation of façades with RPA's proved to be favorable due to the easy and quick access of equipment to different areas, achieving good accuracy and quality of information.
