Abstract

The study to define the best strategy to be used in the elaboration of a project of intersections is essential for greater efficiency in the flow of vehicle traffic, aiming at the agility and safety of the driver and other vehicle occupants. In this sense, this work proposed to carry out the study of the capacity and the service level of three urban intersections in the city of Guarapuava - PR. To this end, quantitative data were collected from vehicles traveling at these intersections and the calculations were prepared, according to the DNIT Intersection Design Manual, 2005. With the results, it was found that the studied intersections had a good level of service, meeting the DNIT parameters and that only one of the access roads at intersection 2 obtained a service level below the ideal. It was concluded that, in a general scope, the intersections presented a low waiting time to carry out transit operations.
