Built morphology has played a central role in determining energy consumption in cities. The objective is to evaluate the impact of the influence of urban density on the thermal load for cooling commercial buildings using three hypothetical urban scenarios. The method consists of simulations and analysis of thermal loads. The results show that the simulation of buildings alone can generate a significant error when measures reduce consumption, especially if these measures reach almost 30% of difference. These results can be applied in the initial phases of urban planning of subdivisions for a better performance of buildings.
