Abstract

Due to the environmental damage caused by the traditional cement manufacturing process, the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) is an option to reduce the emission of pollutants. In this context, the partial replacement of clinker by calcined clays combined with limestone (LC3 mixtures) is interesting. Thus, the influence of the optimal sulfate content on the production of six different LC3 proposals with kaolin flint was evaluated. The results show that gypsum influenced the kinetics of the initial reactions. The increase in SO3 content accelerated the reaction process of the C3S phase, as well as shifted the sulfate depletion peak.
