Wind control is a determining factor in obtaining thermal comfort conditions in open spaces. The present study is part of the author's doctoral research and aims to collect and analyze data on wind attenuation by plant barriers. Measurements were made for 15 shrub-tree species, located on the campus of the Institute of Technological Research (IPT), University of São Paulo (USP) in São Paulo SP. The samples studied were chosen due to the variety of species available and the different canopy densities. Isolated elements were studied, in the case of trees, or small alignments in shrubby elements. The results were analyzed using 3 approaches: considering the total incident winds, only the directed winds and the directed winds 15+, which includes only the 15 highest speeds recorded in the directed winds. In the vast majority of cases, the attenuation percentages are more representative considering only the directed winds.
