Abstract

With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, also called Industry 4.0, different sectors have been modernized intending to increase productivity and the safety of their processes. Within this context, the present work proposes a smart helmet, capable of indicating the non-use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the user and adding additional information such as environmental parameters and fall detection. This is an important contribution to the sector, given that the number of solutions based on the Internet of Things, the Industry 4.0 paradigm that foresees the construction of interconnected intelligent devices, is still incipient compared to other sectors. Although this is an initial study, the construction of the prototype is presented together with details regarding the results obtained in the first tests, the devices used and the viable customization possibilities, as well as the limitations identified.
