Abstract

Considering the consequences of climate change impacts has gained worldwide importance, including in the built environment when linked to users' thermal comfort conditions and energy consumption for cooling. This study addresses the effects of the SSP5-8.5 emissions scenario on thermal comfort conditions and cooling energy consumption in social housing in Cuiabá-MT, considering different types of thermal insulation. The results reveal a notable increase in average annual temperatures, with elevations of +2.45°C in 2050 and +4.81°C in 2080 compared to the historical period. There was a significant increase in hours of heat discomfort in all housing typologies studied, especially in room 1, where heat discomfort increased from 1% to 53% in 2080. Cooling energy consumption also increased, with HISbase registering a +32% increase in 2050 and +50% in 2080, while HISrocha and HISeps showed a growing discrepancy in their consumption. These results underscore the importance of constructive strategies that consider the impacts of climate change to ensure more comfortable and energy-efficient environments.
