Abstract

The work is an experience report based on the development of a schedule of predictive tools, assisting in decisions in the initial stages of the design. The pilot study was carried out in an Architecture and Urbanism undergraduate course, in the integrated design subjects of the 6th phase - Vertical Buildings and Landscaping Design. The objective was the immediate quantification of shading generated by a proposed building (as programming input) on different days and times. The main concepts related to natural lighting, landscaping design, characteristics of plant species, and issues related to parameterization were identified. The study was carried out with the help of the LadyBug tool package, in the Grasshopper 3D interface, a Rhinocerus 3D plug-in, which allows carrying out analyzes based on climate files, generating studies of solar charts, wind direction, amount of insolation on the ground and building surfaces. As a result, it was possible to generate schematic images with chromatic differentiation of shading levels, justifying the location of free spaces and different species of vegetation on the ground.
