Abstract

Road traffic noise has been one of the main sources of pollution and discomfort in urban environments, affecting the health and well-being of users. The use of computer tools is increasingly common to estimate the sound levels incident on the facades of buildings, to define construction materials once sound measurements close to the level are not sufficient to assess the levels in elevated areas. This article aims to present the performance of two sound mapping software based on in situ measurements for noise values incident on the facades of the UFSM Knowledge Museum. The methodology adopted for the acoustic measurements is based on the ABNT NBR 10151:2019 standard, whose measurement points are located on the roads in the Museum environment. In the simulations, for both programs, the same set of input data is used, and the RLS-90 calculation method is adopted. The results found for the noise levels incident on the facades of the Museum diverge from 0 to 5 dB between the two programs, presenting a dispersion that can be considered acceptable for sound mapping software, suggesting the increasing use of acoustic simulations for the implementation of buildings to define the construction materials of facades.
