Abstract

Sustainable practices studies in the field of construction, especially in the assessment and control of temperature and humidity of the envelope and the internal environment of buildings, has been arousing the study of ecological and sustainable materials, such as wood. This study evaluated the hygrothermal behavior of a vertical wooden envelope for four cities located in the bioclimatic zone 2 (ZB2) with the WUFI®️ Pro program. The system is composed of a coniferous wood panel on both sides and mineral wool as an insulating material. The thermal transmittance of the system was approved for ZB2 according to the performance standards NBR 15220 and NBR 15575. The greatest risk of condensation was found at the interface between the thermal insulator and the internal wood panel. In general, the system performed well in terms of hygrothermal analysis, even on façades exposed to high levels of rain and low incidence of solar radiation, showing a more favorable application for the climate of Passo Fundo, and less for Santa Maria.
