Abstract

It is essential that requirements from maintenance activity be considered when designing a building, given its impact on the post-construction stages in terms of building performance, cost and durability. Based on a Literature Review, the concept of Design for Maintainability is discussed, as well as its importance, concepts, strategies, and positive and negative impacts.
