Abstract

The Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) sector is the main contributor to the assessment of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), with buildings emitted by the emission of approximately 50% in some countries. The Environmental Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Building (LEED EB: O&M) certification considers requirements that positively impact so-called GHG. Given this, what techniques and technologies can contribute to mitigate as a GHG base in existing editions in light of the LEED environmental certification requirements? The research aims to identify techniques and technologies that contribute to the mitigation of GHG emissions in existing buildings in light of LEED requirements. It is a bibliographic and documentary research. As a result, we point out a set of techniques and technologies that have the potential to mitigate GHG in existing buildings, highlighting scope 2 - purchase of energy, since LEED EB: O&M certification and the technologies contributed are concentrated in reducing energy consumption. For future studies, it is necessary to survey and measure the impact of the activities inherent to the use, operation and maintenance of buildings with the help of technologies.
