This paper presents a study on the vegetation shading performance in the surface temperature of the sidewalks of an area chosen to study the possibility of implanting a green corridor in the city of Passo Fundo, RS. Part of the analyzed floors is exposed to direct solar radiation and leaves in the shade of trees, in order to be able to estimate the reduction of its surface temperature and, consequently, the thermal contribution to the ambience of the urban subtropical moist enclosure. The method used was the mathematical simulation accompanied by verification measurements. By means of visible sky factor of the urban enclosure the possibility of implanting a green leafy corridor is determined. The results indicate that only when the visible factor is equal to or greater than 45 º, it offers adequate conditions to receive vegetation of medium and large size, case of the streets of Passo Fundo. They also report the problem of arboreal shading in the winter of the humid subtropical region.
