Abstract

Ergonomics aims to adapt the environment to human beings, so that they can perform comfortably and efficiently the tasks and activities proposed in the environments they occupy. Some of the instruments used by Ergonomics in a manufacturing environment can be applied to commercial, institutional or residential environments in order to improve interior designs, contributing to a betterment in functionality and comfort and, consequently, contributing to the upgrading of environmental quality. This work aims to present the study of flows in interior designs as an instrument to improve the functionality of environments. Students of the Ergonomics discipline of the Technology in Interior Design course at the IFSP collected real data, by direct observation, and later a count and analysis of the flows of the observed environments were carried out. After the analysis, the reorganization of the physical arrangement of the environment was proposed, according to criteria suggested by researchers in the field of Ergonomics. As a result, new physical arrangements are presented, elaborated from elements that already exist in the environment, but with obvious improvements related to their functional aspects.
