BIM EXECUTION PLAN AT BRAZILIAN PUBLIC WORK PROJECTS

Abstract

The BIM adoption in public sector leads to the need of suiting traditional practices. BIM project process demands planning since the initial stages, which can be done through the BIM Execution Plan (BEP). However, the creation of this document is not required by national legislation yet and keeping processes in the old ways to use BIM creates barriers to this methodology progress. Thereby, this research discusses the use of BEP for public work projects, seeking to identify its advantages, its different possibilities for structure and how this elaboration may occur. Therefore, an information gathering was done at nine different bibliographies, among BIM guides and standards, and these documents viewpoints were compared. It was noted that the recommendation of BEP formulation is unanimous, and its benefits are clear. The variations of BEP structure are not high, although each document has its particularities, and its comprehension is essential to know how to adapt the BEP to the project. In addition, it is suggested that the BEP elaboration method is divided into precontract and post-contract phases. The research helps to understand that BEP should be required in public work projects, which would impact on the increase of projects quality
