Urban Quality of Life: a Multidimensional Concept

Sustainable development is influenced by the environmental quality and the urban projects. Furthermore, the particularities of the built environment impact people’s perception of the quality of life (QoL), a concept that has a wide variety of definitions in the literature. Thus, regarding the urban context, there is a need to identify and analyze the elements related to QoL and sustainable development. The aim of this study, therefore, is to explore the various approaches to urban QoL through a systematic literature review. The results and discussion include an overview of the identified approaches and the proposal of an urban QoL concept, thus contributing to the understanding of its multidimensional nature.
