Abstract

This paper evaluates the influence of coal mining waste on the rheological properties of cementitious matrices. The coal mining waste was calcined for 60 minutes at 750°C, sieved in 0.6 mm mesh, and milled for 3 and 6 minutes in a disc mill. Rotational rheometry tests were performed on pastes of Portland cement CP-V ARI with water/ cement ratio of 0.5, with substitution in mass of 0%, 5%, 10% and 20% of cement by the waste. The decrease in particle size and the increase in the substitution content of coal mining waste caused an increase in yield stress, viscosity of pastes, and decreased workability.
