Aiming at the environmental sustainability of cities, one of the ways to go is effectively to apply climate information in the processes of urban space design and planning. As a result of local climatic factors, whether natural or anthropic, and their combinations in urban space, it’s originated the urban microclimates. It is important to carry out research on the morphological and functional characteristics of the city, identifying local specificities that contribute to the formation of these microclimates. Based on this, data of microclimatic variables were collected: surface temperature, air temperature, relative air humidity, speed and direction of the winds, in the Boa Vista neighborhood, Recife-PE, with the objective of associating them with the configuration of the respective urban space and of its materials, besides simulating possible modifications in its elements. Several materials of floor, cover and furniture were evaluated, where the exacerbated use of materials that are thermally contraindicated to the climatic context of Recife - Tropical Warm and Humid Coastal. It was also possible to detect the decrease of air temperature in the urban area, by simulating the insertion of arboreal individuals and the exchange of paving materials. Thus, an important reference database for urban planning is built.
