Abstract

Public service buildings are large electricity consumers mainly due to its lighting and air conditioning systems. The Brazilian Labeling Program (PBE) created, in 2003, the PBE Edifica to promote building energy efficiency and its labeling. The aim of this work was to evaluate the building 12 (CEFET-MG) potential of reaching grade A, located in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), for National Energy Conservation Label (ENCE). For this purpose, the prescriptive method established in the RTQ-C (INMETRO, 2013) was applied to rank the classification results of case study and propose building improvements, if applies, due to reach the A Class. The analysis of the three building systems: envelope, lighting and air conditioning pointed out that for the building to reach the A classification by RTQ-C, improvements are required on all items. The results showed lighter building envelope need as well as, electrical systems reorder, air conditioner pipes insulation, replacement of tiles types and air conditioners devices. This study presented a practical and academic contribution once provided a real problem solution and ground similar researches.
