The current scenario highlights the importance of discussing natural ventilation strategies as a support for thermal comfort conditions and indoor air changes in institutional buildings. The objective of this paper is to analyze the potential of using the natural ventilation in the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education (EMEI) located in Bioclimatic Zone 2, from the influence of two variables, the temperature setpoint and the window opening percentage, through an evolutionary computational simulation analysis. In a multifactorial optimization approach, alternatives were simulated for the analysis of control strategies and natural availability limits for the windows of the EMEI, in order to evaluate their impacts on thermal comfort and air renewal within the environment. The thermal comfort analysis was performed based on the adaptive model of ASHRAE Standard 55/2017. The results indicated that the combination of variables obtained from the best solutions was the one that presented the natural ventilation setpoint close to 19°C, while the minimum opening factor (MAF) did not present a standard behavior. When relating thermal comfort and number of air changes, it was possible to identify that the increase in the average annual percentage of thermal comfort is linked to higher average values of air changes.
