Abstract

This study aimed to determine the typical consumption of electricity per housing unit in Brazil. The ANEEL database (from 2003 to 2020) was explored, evaluating the total consumption and the number of units. Reference values for electricity consumption in households were obtained for each year and region. The annual consumption growth rate in the analysed interval and the monthly consumption seasonality index were determined. The results showed that the growth in total consumption is mainly due to the increase in the number of units and that there is a strong presence of seasonality in the annual consumption of households in Brazil.
