Abstract

Developing new healthcare facilities involves complex service delivery models, which requires the alignment between service delivery and the infrastructure created to support them. Healthcare projects involve several requirements from different clients and frequently need refurbishments to improve performance due to changes in demand, new technologies, evolving requirements, and advances in healthcare processes. The research aims to identify a set of user requirements of the built environment that contribute to increasing the resilience of healthcare systems. These requirements have been organized into categories, and they can assist in preparing healthcare buildings to respond better to unexpected situations, such as future pandemics.
