Previous studies have proposed optimization approaches to generate construction site layouts, such as mathematical models and computational algorithms. However, these are seldom adopted in practice due to technical limitations, excessive costs, and lack of flexibility in such automated solutions. This research assumes that involving decision-makers in an optimization approach ensures more assertive solutions in planning. Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) is used to arrange facilities in the manufacturing industry, applying rules to assess the need for proximity between facilities. Building Information Modeling (BIM) provides a suitable framework to support the decision-making process. Through Design Science Research, this study aims to develop a tool to support decision-making in construction site planning and logistics, integrating BIM, SLP, and a genetic algorithm. Its main contribution is proposing an efficient and precise approach to site planning, promoting optimization of available resources, and enhancing quality and productivity in the construction process.
