Abstract

The objective of this research is to evaluate the lighting adequacy of a research laboratory at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, based on lighting measurements and evaluations of users' subjective perceptions. The method applied combines the procedure for selecting and verifying the minimum levels of lighting proposed by the standards, identification of necessary sources of glare and the application of questionnaires to users. The results demonstrated that the amount of lighting is not fully supported by natural lighting. The finding was proven both by measurements and responses of the users, who showed to be satisfied with the general luminous environment but had specific complaints.
