Abstract

The buildings are responsible for 42.6% of the total electricity consumption in Brazil, making it necessary to invest in mechanisms that reduce their energy consumption. One of them is the energy retrofit in historic buildings. Energy performance certifications in Brazilian buildings are being updated, such as INI-C, which focuses on non-residential buildings. This work is a case study using computer simulation, aiming to analyze the economic feasibility to reach the “A” level of INI-C, in a listed building on level one of tipping, in the southern climatic context of Brazil, taking into account the restrictions of legislation for the preservation of historical heritage. Casarão 2, the headquarters of the Secretariat of Culture of the municipality of Pelotas, RS, located in the historic center and with a level one listed, was used as the object of study. The methods of analysis of thermal comfort and energy consumption were followed according to INI-C. The economic feasibility analysis was done through simple payback. The retrofit solutions that reached level “A” of energy efficiency, according to INI-C, were not considered economically viable, as they presented simple payback over 8 years.
