Abstract

Many public universities have extensive physical infrastructure. This infrastructure is composed of many buildings with laboratories of different natures, classrooms, administrative rooms, auditoriums and many other spaces with specific purposes and audiences. The quality of these spaces impacts the activities carried out, in addition, the costs of operation and maintenance are high. When discussing the quality of spaces and costs of operation and maintenance, one aspect is mentioned: construction performance. Understanding the context of project development at a university is very important. It is also relevant to align the work process with the concepts of development of performance-based projects, and in this way to optimize the final results. In this context, this paper seeks to discuss the project development process in a public university using the perspective of Performance Based Building (PBB). This paper resorted to a bibliographic review and a case study. The results point to a misalignment between the work process of the case studied and the structure recommended by Performance Based Building (PBB).
