The Life Cycle Assessment methodology is fundamental to promote sustainable development, communicating the results to architects, engineers, and decision-makers. However, their knowledge of environmental issues is generally limited, which highlights the need for a suitable tool for them. Therefore, the objective of this research is to investigate how a tool to communicate the environmental impacts of building systems and their components should be structured and to identify effective media types for this purpose. The method is developed in two steps: (i) analysis of available cellphone applications; (ii) preparation and application of a questionnaire. The results allow an initial delineation of what information should be contained in the tool, according to the perception of consulted agents from the construction sector.
