Abstract

The inclusion of the theme of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) by companies from different segments has become a competitive differential and represents the creation of value and protection for investors in the financial market, even though the performance evaluation metrics of executive management are in their initial stage. In building construction, this issue is still incipient, although some sectors are already implementing solutions aimed at sustainability, especially in enterprises of significant social relevance, as is the case with social housing projects. This work analyzed the presence of ESG practices in three large construction companies that operate in the social housing market in Brazil and verified the stage of development of the concepts in each one of them. By tracking references to key actions, by checking the material made available on the builders own web page, it was possible to map the main actions implemented and identify the main constraints on their development. It was understood that ESG actions should be consolidated and intensified in the coming years with the reformulation of the federal social housing program and due to the companies search for new markets and customers
