Pathological manifestations in hotel bathrooms with masonry walls and plasterboard

ABSTRACT: The buildings intended for hotels, besides to be traditional masonry, also use the plasterboard system for the internal partitioning of their environments, including the internal partitions for the bedrooms' bathrooms. However, this component is sensitive to water action and more attention is needed in these environments with high moisture content. Thus, this research aimed to identify and analyze the pathological manifestations that occur in bathrooms of hotel buildings built with masonry walls and plasterboard. To identify these manifestations, a documentary research was carried out, based on the analysis of records of daily occurrences, in a sample of three hotels, with the information provided by the hotel maintenance sector, which are located in Araraquara and Ribeirão Preto, in the state of São Paulo. Among the findings, it was found that the places where the hydro-sanitary installations are found were the most problematic, with 80% of the records, of which 48% refer to problems of detachment of objects from the walls. The research identified a set of pathological manifestations, with their characteristics and influences on plasterboard and masonry systems, pointing out the pathological manifestations that occur in hotel buildings.
