The study of the view out quality is a relatively new branch in the broader field of environmental comfort studies. Despite being widely viewed as a desirable attribute in a building, there were, until recently, little to no institutionalized objective parameters to analyze a view out. The publishing of European norm EN-17.037 in 2018 was an important step towards the institutionalization of these parameters, this standard being the basis for the proposed revision of NBR 15.215 - part 3, on procedures for assessing natural lighting indoors. These standards propose the analysis of views from 3 parameters: number of layers seen, distance from external objects and angle of view to the outside. The layers are characterized as sky, landscape and view of the terrain. The classification of the external view is made from the parameter that obtained the worst classification. With that said, the aim of this study is then, to investigate this new metric, analyzing the quality of selected views from rooms in the School of Architecture of the Federal University of Minas Gerais, using the parameters defined by the European norm. The program generates a map of the quality of the view of each analyzed point in the environment. Rooms with different types of external environments were selected to verify the behavior of the internal space in relation to the metric. The results showed that despite the dense surroundings, the view out classification of the spaces analyzed generally met the level I for the parameters stablished. Furthermore, the computer simulation makes the analysis process easier, since the three criteria are analyzed from a single simulation and provides an easy-to-understand visualization of the analyzed parameters.
